Just do it!

Everyone has a head full of great ideas and plans. While all positive momentum starts with a thought, nothing ever changes without action. The crucial step from excited idea to committed action is the burial ground for millions of good intentions.

There are many reasons why people don't pull the trigger on their ideas. Fear of failure, nagging self doubt, over thinking and many more mental hurdles can drain the energy and enthusiasm out of a flash of brilliance until there is nothing but a bitter should-have-done memory left.

It is important to stress that no matter what your dream, desire or inspired idea is: If you don't take action nothing will happen. There is no one else you can look to to create the opportunities you want. It is all up to you to just buckle down and do it.

It is ironic that the greatest hurdle in the world for achieving our dreams are ourselves. Most obstacles we face in life are quite easily bested. The one exception is the many mental blocks we put up for our selves. In truth these hurdles can be reinforced by others expectations and convention, but ultimately we are responsible for the excuses and limitations we put on ourselves.

In the real world, people will either get out of the way or help you on your way up if you truly reach for something. The doubt and criticism other people will bring are almost always part of their own mental protection system they put up. These systems are put in place subconsciously to preserve a tolerable status quo. When we realize this it becomes clear that there are very few absolute rules we need to consider.

Outside the obvious rules of nature and for most part the laws of the land, we are more free to pursue our own dreams than most of us realize. Virtually all of the little things that keep us from reaching higher are nothing but well conditioned thought patterns and mental smoke and mirrors. It's a mountain of perceived obstacles made up of conventions, 'being realistic', not thinking your better than every one else and so on, and so on.

It takes a courageous mind to blow through these layers of conditioning. To question and challenge conventions and 'common sense' requires mental bravery and honest thought about anything that we taker for granted. It is not an easy exercise, but it is impossible to live fully without wrestling back control of your own mind.

Question everything, find your own answers and question them constantly. Reject everything that doesn't hold up to your own conscious and thorough examination. Any idea, rule, custom or similar that you are supposed to just accept because someone else told you is wrong. If you can't see the reason behind it with your own mind, then don't let it be a rule that binds you.

With our wonderfully creative minds we constantly come up with ideas that could change our lives and the lives of many others for the better. To let these ideas die behind the thick veil of self doubt, fear and doubt is tragic. So hold onto those precious thoughts and don't let them fade from inactivity. You plan doesn't have to be perfect, it's ok if you fail 100 times, if you carry around a dream: Just do it!

  1. Great advice! Dreams are only worth so much. At some point you have to put them into action.
