Biff ala Lindstrøm

Biff ala Lindstrøm is a very popular dish in Sweden. It is a delicious spicy patty flavored with pickled beets and capers. Despite the name and its popularity in Sweden, biff ala Lindstrøm is probably originally a Russian receipe.

1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
2 boiled and mashed potatoes
1 egg
Up to 6 tablespoons of water
6 tablespoons of chopped pickled beets
2 tablespoons of diced yellow onion
2 tablespoons of capers

Start by mixing the ground beef, the salt and the pepper. Make sure you mix it well. Add the potatoes and the egg. Add water and stir very well. Make sure the mixture is smooth.

Next add the beets, onion and capers and mix well again. Form the mixture into 8 patties.

Fry the patties in butter for about 3 minutes on each side.

Biff ala Lindstrøm is typically eaten with fried potatoes and topped with a fried egg.
